- Dairy products – We all need adequate amounts of calcium in order to maintain healthy teeth and bones. When it comes to good oral health, two dairy products are particularly beneficial: yogurt and cheese. Yogurt not only provides your body with calcium and protein; the probiotics contained in yogurt help to encourage the growth of good bacteria within your mouth while discouraging the growth of bad bacteria that can lead to tooth decay. Plain yogurt with no added sugar is the best choice. Cheese also contains calcium and protein, but the real benefit in eating cheese is that it raises the pH levels inside your mouth and that lowers your chance of developing cavities.
